About Simone...
Simone is an actress known for her television roles on Stargate SG-1 as Jaffa warrior & High Council member: “Ka’lel” in Seasons 7, 8 & 9, and the EA game Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2005), Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, Da Vinci's City Hall and The L Word. More recently, she was in the series finale of DC’s Dead Boy Detectives, and guest starred as Jessica Wong in episode 6 of Blood & Treasure TV series on CBS and Amazon Prime Video, and can also be seen on Limitless (CBS) as well as playing Lt. Shannon James on the seventh season finale of NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) Simone has also appeared in numerous feature films such as Life Partners, Good Luck Chuck and I Spy. Simone just wrapped her first lead in a Western film entitled Unfrayed, opposite actress Crystal Balint (The 100, The Fall of the House of Usher).
Gamers may recognize Simone as the sexy cop partnered with Sgt. Cross in the EA video game Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005), awarded Best Racing Game of the Year and sold over 16 million copies worldwide and is still revered as one of the all time best racing games.
On three seasons of Stargate SG-1, Simone played the recurring role of Ka'lel, sharing scenes with MacGyver himself, Richard Dean Anderson as well as Lou Gossett Jr. (Enemy Mine), Christopher Judge (God of War), and Tony Amendola (The Mask of Zorro). It was also on Stargate that she worked with director/actor Peter DeLuise (21 Jump Street) who later starred with Simone in the comedic film noir short, THE BAR. Simone is often recognized from her recurring role as Grace, Max’s intern and love interest on Showtime's The L Word, working alongside Pam Grier, Marlee Matlin and Jennifer Beals. She also appeared in Battlestar Galactica opposite James Callis and Tricia Helfer, in the 2-part series finale Daybreak: Part 1 & 2, directed by Michael Rymer.
As Constable Jan Ferris on Da Vinci's City Hall (aka Da Vinci's Inquest), Simone portrayed the reckless leader of a gang of renegade cops (based on true events). Series writer/creator Chris Haddock was so impressed with Simone’s performance that a one-episode part was written into a regular role for the entire series. In preparation, Simone rode along with police officers to the roughest areas in the city, witnessing first-hand the many dangers and realities of being a cop. Simone has also had additional tactical and firearms training both on and off set.
Born in Calgary and influenced by her jazz musician grandfather, Simone took piano lessons and sang in a jazz choir performing in hotels during the holidays --this later led to Simone joining a hip hop/funk/jazz band, recording, and performing on tour and at The Vancouver International Jazz Fest. In her teens, she went from skipping school to go play pool, to graduating with Honors. She received a scholarship for her achievements in the arts, athletics and her volunteer work.
Simone graduated with Honors from the BFA Acting program at the University of British Columbia, and was one of 3 women to graduate in her year. She trained under Shakespeare guru Neil Freeman. After graduation—and backpacking through Europe--Simone flew to Toronto to audition for a Shakespeare Company. She booked the lead and toured performing in 2 Shakespeare shows for several months performing for up to four thousand people per show. Simone’s transition into film & television was a natural progression.
Simone is a dual citizen of the U.S. & Canada and travels between California and her hometown Vancouver, Canada. Simone is a certified yoga instructor and loves longboard skateboarding, pole dancing classes, playing pool, gardening, cooking, and traveling. Simone is also a painter, Director & DJ. Simone was a celebrity guest/panelist and had the fortunate opportunity to re-unite with Stargate & Sci-Fi fans at Gatecon The Celebration in Vancouver, Canada September 1st-4th 2022. She was pleased to be taking part in a special virtual event for WonderCon 2021 and is an honorary guest speaker and film judge at the Annual Vancouver Chinese Film Festival. Simone was also chosen as one of the actors to join the Acting Ensemble for Women in The Director’s Chair Program, which helps emerging Canadian female Director’s work with talent to develop their scripts, and hone their directing skills. Simone was honored with the Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival in 2022. You also may have seen her on a 31ft x 55 ft billboard in Times Square, New York City in 2022. She was flown to Germany to be an star guest at Fedcon 2023 alongside the stars from Stargate & Star Trek. Simone was elated to share the stage with Star Trek legend, George Takei. In 2024 she flew to the UK to be a guest at another Stargate convention alongside a handful of cast members to meet with fans, and she will take the stage again at this year’s Vancouver Chinese Film Festival 2024. Simone was also a featured guest on two back to back live video podcasts for The Companion speaking on Elevating Asian Voices in Television, and The Eight Limbed Path of Yoga.
